Amore e pianto, vivono accanto

A tavola non si invecchia

sitting at the table,
my hands pass over
the tiny nicks and scratches
I am reminded of my childhood

aroma of Grandma’s warm kitchen spices,
slowly simmering marinara
teasing our appetites

sitting at her bountiful table
home filled with laughter and love
family and friends

table covered with platters of home cooking
pasta, artichokes, homemade bread,
seafood, and more …
the traditional words before every meal,
“Mangiare, mangiare”

lively chatter, heart warming laughter
passed over the table at every meal
a reason for celebration,
just to be together at Grandma’s table

One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. ~Luciano Pavarotti ~
