“Whispers of Eternity” – Adraga Beach, Portugal – Jorge Maia – Featured Photographer

Do you feel like this could be another planet?  Some alien world that we have never seen before?  Well as Jorge points out below, the beach at night is a completely different place void of most people.  So this image reminds us to check out familiar places at different times of day when photographing to get an entirely different perspective on them. So please read the photo account below and then check out the wonderful portfolio of Jorge Maia.  His concept of art mixed with photography is breathtaking in many of his images.

Enter Jorge:

This image was taken on the Portuguese beach Adraga, being part of the Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais, near Lisbon. It’s one of my new ongoing projects called “Night Dreams”, where I explore the wonders of the night by the sea, away from day crowds, a real moment to relax and let ourselves be driven by the magnitude and beauty of the night sky in conjugation with the natural beach landscape.

This is a composition of two exposures, one for the sky and one for the land. I did this because I wanted to preserve the sharpness and detail of the foreground and especially the smoothness of the water.   If I used the exposure of the sky for the entire image, it would result in a great deal of noise and loss of definition.

Camera: Canon EOS Mark II

Lens: Canon EOS 24-70mm f/2.8L USM

Exposure for the sky: f/4 25sec.

Exposure for the land: f/11 90sec.
